I was looking at the Case IH dealers lot yesterday and there sat a DX series tractor. I have two acres to mow, and was curious about this model of tractor. Anyone own one of these little tractors? If so, what is your experience and opinion of them?
How do they compare to the Kabota, J.D, and other comparable tractos of that size?

I told my wife, since we have a Farmall H, we are now a IH family, I shouldn't bring home a Kabota, or a J.D. Then I thought about instead of being true to a brand name, I need to buy the most reliable.

What do you think?

I agree with 26 red. If your only using it mow grass then get a zero turn mower. If you need a tractor to mow, push snow, landscape, haul firewood. Then get a tractor DX or Deere or whatever. I will say this, SIMPLICITY is coming out with a small utility with a rear three point (category 1) in the next few months. It will offer three engine sizes, including a Kohler Gas engine, hydrostat, And the price will be $9000-10,000 cheaper than the DX CaseIH.

$9,000 to $10,000 cheaper?we got a DX29 this spring for $15,500 and we use it alot it has a 72" rear discharge deck and we use it on the augers quite a bit,it will handle a 10" with no trouble.you need to look at what you are getting not just what you need as the zero-turns and garden tractors don't hold their resale very well.

I agree. Comparing a D/DX tractor to a zero turn mower or garden tractor is like comparing a Farmall Cub to a 1206. They are VERY different.

If you're just looking for something to cut the grass, try a zero turn mower...I'm not sure if there is a cubcadet model...but TORO is about RED as you can get, and they are still made in the USA. A zero turn mower would chew up those 2 acres less than 1 hour... We have Farmalls on the farmstead, and we recently purchased a TORO "Z master" 280Z with 72" deck. I chews up the 4 acres of grass in 4 hours instead of the 10 it used to take us. If you're going to spend the cash for compact just for mowing, take a look at the other RED

We sell many of the D/DX units every year. They are well made, nice to operate units that retain their resale values nicely. The New FARMALL series will have more models in the lineup that the current D/DX family does.

We experience few (if any) warranty calls on these tractors. The new FARMALL line will offer factory cab and AC.
