I've seen an ad for a 460 diesel for sale in the local trader. I just need to know a good "ball park" idea as to what it should be worth. I know it will vary based on locale, etc. But an idea would help as well as how good were they and what about parts availability.

I have many hours on a 460, but it is a gas model.
Be sure that it runs good. Listen for bad knocking in the motor, look for leaks around the injector pump, and see if the drawbar will stay put and not float up and down after you move it. If the sheet metal is straight, if no parts are missing and it has decent tires, I would not feel bad about spending 2500-3000 on it. I have heard that if the injector pump needs rebuilt, you could spend big money to have it fixed. But I have also heard that that is not true. Not sure what to believe there. For parts availability, it is my opinion that between dealers and salvage yards, you can find pretty much anything you need.
