My 400 has the fast hitch and was wondering what you guys use for a 3pt system?
I have seen some that are just 2 bars that fit in the sockets but dont see what you do with the top link.
I have also seen some that are solid arms with the top link attached to this. This looks good but was wondering about side to side movement to attach the implement.
What do you have?

I bought a conversion kit from Steel Wheel Ranch for my 400 this spring. My 400 has a fast hitch from a 450 on it and has the rockshaft across the back of the rear end housing above the pto. The kit consists of 2 prongs that slide into the fast hitch sockets and a bracket that slips over the exposed rockshaft. I cost about $150.00 including shipping from Kansas to Illinois.

Kelly, the easyest set up is to get the IH one piece 2 to 3 point conversion unit and attach it permently to your 3 point equipment. If you have any 2 point equipment then you know how easy it is to hook up 2 point equipment. Those IH 2 to 3 point conversions units are not that hard to find. If you can't find any they are not that hard to build. I have found 7 of them without really looking very hard. All my three point equipment has one permently attached.

I just put a conversion on my 340. I choose the one that has your top link built right in. The other setup is the arms that attach to the implement and then you have to slide them into your fast hitch. It is awkward as can be. The one piece unit can be attached to the tractor and then it hooks to the implements with latches on the bottom two links and a pin on top. It is the easiest 3 point set up. I know where ther is one for sale in MI probably $100 or so. Email me if you want the place that has one

Kelly, I would suggest one that has the 2 prongs which fit in the fast hitch and the toplink connects to the rear of the tractor. Look at the drawings at worksaver.com. They have 2 different toplink brackets. They make a few different coversion hitches and have nice drawings on there web site to get ideas from.
Don't know much about the 400, but I've seen 3 different fast hitches/rear ends on 300's. Worksaver has kits for two of them. One for an exposed rock shaft and one which has holes drilled and tapped in the rear end. My 300 had neither of these so I fabricated one.
The prongs which fit into the fast hitch are kind of expensive. I think I priced a set out at about $180 a few years ago. They are pretty easy to make, I'll check in the shop I might have a few blanks cut out for you. I also have some extra drawbars for a fast hitch which is a good start.
Anyway, got to get some good posts going, sick of reading about "JUNK" being up on the top.

As Guy says, go to worksaver.com. They have line drawings of their products, and should be easy to see what they've done for the various models. I have theirs on my Farmall 200 - Is well crafted, and has worked OK within the limitations of the 200's system. Got it for about $200, direct shipped. Seemed easier than trying to fabricate something with my limited shop.

I'm working on the same project for my IH super c. I have some pretty good pictures of a 3 pt conversion and would be happy to send to you if you like. Email me at mickey@jam.rr.com and I will share my information with you.
