I have a question that I think I know the answer to but I need to ask. What is the most likely cause of oil to be in the top of my radiator on my 400 diesel? The oil is black and appears to be engine oil. That radiator does not have an excess amount of pressure in it. There does not appear to be any anti-freeze in the crankcase. If this is a head, where is the best place to find a replacement? Thanks Jerry

It,s probably bad head gasket which is not to big of a job to fix. Have the head checked first for cracks at a machine shop while you have it off.

I have a head for you, $350, located in NY. The antifreeze doesnt necessarily make it to the crankcase since it gets burned by the engine, white smoke. -Greg

It could be the head gasket and not the head.
