I discover the cam gear and the pump gear broke on my H. Is there some play behind the cam gear or should it be tight. It seems like it will not line up if you tighten it all the way. Any help on the timing. I did this a while back but my memory is alittle short. Any other precautions. Thanks Norm

I found my problem. I must have been looking cross eyed at it. I found a pic in the past posts which expains everything. This sure is a helpful board. Thnks for your help. Now I just have to get a puller to remove the crank gear.

Very little play but needs to turn free. Just a hard plate with 2 cap screws to hold it to the block to hold the cam in place.

It seems if you tighten it all the way the gear will hit the back plate. The hub should be out right. The back side is recessed in so there is nothing to tighten too. There was a scar on the back plate in one spot like it was rubbing. When I took it apart it was about 2-3 turn out with the locking washer on the nut so I don't think it loosened up from the last time it was apart. There would not be some shims that go behind? Thanks Norm
