Hey I have got a couple questions for you guys on the injection pump and turbo on my 1206. It has a roosa-master pump on it and I know it has to be rebuilt-doesn't idle kinda lopes at idle and can't get it in time. My question is has anybody had a roosa-master rebuilt lately, I have heard some say they can't be rebuilt anymore and some say they can.

My next question is, is there any signs I could listen or look for if I think the turbo is not working properly. The neighbors 1086 has a loud whistle (straight piped same as 1206) at idle and under load, my 1206 doesn't-difference in turbo's? I know a can put a gauge on the intake but what kind of gauge do I use?

Sorry for being long but I try to get every thing. You guys have been a great help with my "huge project".

Thanks.

Thanks guys, guess I better spend the $500 and get the pump rebuilt and see if I can't find a boost gauge and take that turbo apart.

Super M was so easy-why can't the 1206 be....

Thanks again.

about your turbo question the whistleing noise is normal its building boost press. To check the turbo for normal operation you need to put a boost gauge on it the gauge should read somewhere between 0 and 100 pounds boost press. you would have to see what the manufacture spec is. A turbo wont build full boost until you have a load on the engine. You should also check the turbo internally remove the intake side and ex side and check impeller shaft for excesive in and out and side to side play. You mayalso see small amounts of oil on the intake side which is ok but the ex side is bad to see oil. good luck

Here where I live, there are several diesel services that rebuild injector pumps and a rooso-master pump is pretty comon pump. I had one rebuilt last summer,2002, on my 806 that ran $425.00. Roosa-master had pumps on IH,JD,AC tractor and combines from the late 1950's thru the late 80's and also on chevy pickup's from 1980 thru the late 90's and were all about the same. As for the turbo, the one on my 1206 does have a whistle to it and I put one on my 706 years back and it only whistles at a low rpm, 1500 and under.

Hi, the roosa-master injection pump was very common on JDs. There is plenty of info on the JD forum about reworking them.

hope this helps
