I could be wrong on this, but I believe hydraulics were an option on the Early Cubs. So some had hydraulics, some did not.

1947, I believe. I have a neighbor with a 1946 cub without hydraulics. As I recall, it does not have a place for a hydraulic pump. I have a cub engine from a hay baler without a hydraulic pump openning or a place for a starter.

The first Cub was made in 1947 without hydraulics, but was set up to accept them. The letter Q designates the year 1947 and the serial number started with 501 and went through 11347. I am parting out number 1097 and it has hydraulics. Gary, out of curiosity, could the engine on your hay baler be called a U60? I've heard they made them for balers, but I've never seen one.

I enjoyed that one too Dan. About the 1097 I'm parting out, it is one of three that I bought from a rural IH repair shop that went out of business. The radiator leaks and the bolster burst and has been fiberglassed up. It had started to be cannibalized, so I'm just continuing the process. Don't know what to do with the engine because it turns freely but has all the essentials removed now. Like distributor, governor, carburator. Non adjustable front end that has had both spindles welded. I hated to see all of them go to the scrap yard, so I'm saving as many parts as I can.
