How hard is it to retrofit a 53 Farmall Cub with FH? What do you have to change? Can you just buy one and hook it on?

Jesse: I have not tried this with a cub, however it should work as tractor design is the same. I did this with a Super A using a hitch from a 130. The only problem I ran into was for the spring assist that helps hydraulics with lifting the hitch. The Super A was drilled in torque tube for mounting one end of spring. The rockshaft however did not have a hole for the other end of spring. I had to change the rockshaft also. I did run it for awhile without the spring, and I'm not sure it helps that much anyway.

Your best bet is to do a very close comparison of your tractor and one built after 1955. I saw this yesterday but held back thinking someone who had actually done a cub would respond, and maybe they will yet. My best guess is if you run into problems, it will not be mounting of main structure but rather a minor item as I did with Super A.

You will not be able to install the helper spring, but everything else will install just fine. The fast hitch wasn't incoperated to cubs until 1954. Unless you are using a fast-hitch 42A or 59A woods REAR mower you wont have a problem lifting most implements.

Randy: How do you know this? I can think of a dozen implements heavier than a woods mower. I'll also bet it is possible for him to put that spring on his cub. It was possible on my Super A.

Prior to 54 there is only one left side hydraulic arm. The one that goes to the spring was not added till 54.

Randy: That can be changed. If you read just a bit more carefully, that is exactly what I had to change on the Super A.
