Electric Start for F12/F14

I'd like to convert my 1938 F14 to electric start. I know there were a few out there from the factory, and I've heard of a feller (Farm Show Magazine, I think) that converts/updates F12's with electric start and other goodies and sells them with belly mowers on 'em.

Ideally, I'd like to do it by changing the bellhousing and flywheel, and adding a generator/regulator etc. Not worried about lights, and while I'd like it to look original, I'm not locked into that concept either. Any leads or suggestions appreciated.

I put a starter that works through the PTO on my F-14. Works good for me. I can send you pictures of it if you want. Email me and I will send them to you. mmilner12@chartertn.net You may want something different but it might give you some ideas. Good luck Fred.

I've seen a conversion done on an F-14 in a local junkyard where someone welded the starter mount to the right side frame rail. They then installed a ring gear into the clutch to transmission linkages. I can take pictures for you next time I'm there if you want an email them to you. Probably be going by this coming Monday. This method doesn't require modifying the bellhousing but you do have to weld a bracket onto the rail. Zak
