Is it possible to put hydraulics or a three point hitch on a Farmall A???? I have seen references to it but nothing really solid.

Do I really need the three point or hydraulics? From what I was told an A may be hard to find a lot of implements for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Tom, I have one that I built for an A that I had. It fit right under the seat. The pump ran off the belt pulley shaft with a drive coupling. It mounted to the top of the resevior tank which was reinforced. Had a dipstick with a magnet on the end of it. The valve mounted to the left fender on a bracket. I have since sold the tractor and don't need it anymore. $200 would buy the whole works. Let me know. Thanks.

I put a pump on the tractor that was driven from a double pulley on the generator. At first I used hydrualic cylinders to lift both front and back. One problem is that the valve didn't drop pressure when in the off position and it would always run at high pressure. I then bought the center housing and hydrualic unit from a junked Super A. Works good and still uses the pump driven by the generator. The hydrualic unit drops pressure when not being used.

The original A does not have an opening on the distributor housing to accept a hydraulic pump. You would need to use a pto driven pump. The need for a three point is driven by what you want to do with the tractor. In some cases it maybe be easier and cheaper to buy a tractor that meets your needs. Once you add the hydraulics and three point then you need to locate implements designed for the A. You can probably find them but are you willing to pay the going price?

I already own the tractor. Just gonna use it mainly for using bush hog and mower. But would like to make it more versatile if possible.

Can Super A parts be used to convert the hydraulics and lift? Also, is the Super A lift more usable???

Thanks

Tom

You dont need three point for either mower or bush hog. Get a 5 foot pull behind bush hog with wheels the mower comes with its own lift assy or what kind of mower did you have in mind.
