Rings around mainfold and air cleaner opening?

I have been deciding whether or not to put chrome rings around the manfold and air cleaner openings on my H. There is quite a bit of gap between the pipes and the sheet metal, so it could be done. It might cut back on some of the exhaust residue getting on the good paint on my hood. Any body recommend putting chrome rings around the pipes? I think Harley Davidson makes some that might work. Just an idea to give the tractor a little class. Any comments?

My opinion: An H (or any other Farmall for that matter) already has all the "class" it needs! A chrome ring cannot possibly add any more. However I also firmly believe that as long as it's your tractor you can add whatever touches that please YOU. And if that means a chrome escutcheon around the exhaust opening then by all means go for it!

As a practical matter, so long as the exhaust stack-to-muffler connection is gas-tight there will be no exhaust staining around the hood opening. Smearing some furnace cement on the exhaust nipple before slipping on the muffler will seal the connection very nicely, yet permit the muffler to be removed later on.
