the stud that is attached to the bottom of the radiator broke. How is that held in the bottom of the radiator? Does it screw in or is it soldered in? There is enough sticking out that I can weld the stud on. I don't want to melt the solder if that is how it is held. I plan to put water in the radiator before welding, to keep the heat down. Thank you, Bill

It's been awhile since I worked on one, and I hope memory serves me correctly. That stud should be able to screw out of the radiator. You may try some penetrating fluid on it and let it soak. Also keep your patience and work the stud back and forth and eventually it should come out so you can replace it. Or if you know of a good radiator shop or garage you may take it to them and see if they can get it out for you.

later days mate,
Jim

Yes, it is just a threaded stud. Good luck with it's removal.

Hey, on the C, the studs slide into the housing, they are carriage bolts., you then thread a nut onto the bottom.

i think what your saying is that the bolt is spinning? If its spinning, then the slot the carriage bolt slides into is probably gone. or it slipped out?
