I am looking at a 51 super C, Strait tin good tires and rims, wide front. All in all its all there and complete ecept no fast hitch or implements. Only proplem is the head is off the engine. The guy was starting to rebuild it when he passed away. It comes with a rebuild kit all gaskets, sleeves, bearings, carb kit ect. They are asking $1500, does this sound like a good deal?

don,

I would buy it. I'm not saying I've never made any silly purchases, but if you're on this discussion board you've probably all ready got the Farmall addiction. And what a great project A Super C wide front with a rebuild would be!

Come to think of it, would you be interested in selling it to me for $1600? ;)

Seriously, I don't see that many Super C's in my part of the country with a wide front and I think I would take it if you enjoy the work. The price does not seem out of line.

Don: Sounds like a decent deal to me. The good thing about this is you can examine the engine inside and out to see if there's any problems. I just picked up a '51 Super C myself--kept under cover but stuck from setting--for about the same money, and they're a nice tractor. The wide front end is also a definite plus, at least in my opinion.

Don: Have to agree with old, great deal in my opinion. You know when you get it reassembled you have a new engine. Go for it.

The kit would cost around $300 to $500 so you would be paying $1000 for the tractor how are the tires if good they are worth $100 to $350 so you are probably getting it for a fair price if not a little low. And just think when you get done with it the engine will be new

Sounds like a reasonable deal to me. Especially since it has a rebuild kit. I bought a 52 super C last summer for $1600. Complete running tractor, no implements or fast hitch. It had nice paint and decals and straight tin, average tires. It ran okay but I did the brakes, replaced a couple gages, and rebuilt the carb.
