On my Farmall A, when I turn the steering wheel clockwise, the right wheels begin to turn after about four revolutions of the steering wheel, but when I turn the steering wheel counter-clockwise, the steering wheel has to revolve over twenty times before the wheels begin to turn left. What is most likely the cause and what can be done about it? Thanks. I really appreciate all of your expertise.

I believe you aregoing to have to take it apart to get to the source. No big problem, really. Disconnect the tierods, jack the front end up just slightly, pull the axle pin, then remove the six bolts that holds the bottom of the steering box on. You really need to start by removing the steering wheel and the lower bearing in the steering box (the bottom end of the worm gear). I am suspecting the key is sheared on the pitman shaft/gear and is finally binding enough to turn. Make certain when you put it back together that you tighten those six bolts good. There are two dowel pins, but, everything can still "waller" loose.
