I was about to do some raking with my 300U. I started to turn the steering wheel while I backed up and all of a sudden i felt the wheel give and now the wheels dont turn. I can turn the wheel but the wheels dont move. What have I done? Is there a woodruff key in the steering gear box or something that broke?

Please help. Thanks in advance.

There's a stud on the shaft that turns left side wheel. This stud runs in the worm gear on steering wheel shaft. The stud may have worn/broken off or teeth on left and/or right shafts have broken off. The teeth are a weak spot on these str. boxes & parts hard to find and expensive. When you tear it down let us know how it looks.Good Luck!

Thanks TDK. I have been staring at the parts catalogue looking for that stud you mentioned. If you have a parts catalogue, can you tell me which part you are talking about?

I have a horrible trans fluid leak coming from under the steering box so I can fix that too, but I just am trying to figure part of this out before I take it all apart. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
