Tractor dreams...

I'm an internatinal guy, i own 3 farmalls and there my all time favorite, but i also have a ford and an oliver.. i hate to be obsessive and don't try to be, but im 19 yeard old and sometimes i dream about tractors.. most of the time there really funny and make no sense but its just fun to talk about them.. last night i had a weird dream i was buying an oliver 88 diesel with a hydro tranny!!! makes no sense, but just interesting how dreams can be about the strangest things... anyone else ever do this??

Ok you tractor lovers go ahead and dream about your machines or the ones you lust for. Me, I dream about different things.

The worst one I had was that I was a member of the construction crew building the Arch at St. Louis, MO..... what is it a couple hundred feet high?

Both sides of the arch were up but they had to be joined at the center. All that I had to do it with was 4 bolts and nuts, 2 wrenches and me.

The wind was blowing really hard and I was hanging onto one side trying to grasp the other side and I looked down and ..... ..... ..... ..... ..got up and went to the bathroom. Apparently all the baby dreams my system generated to relieve my bladder didn't work so my system said...."Ok you want to play hard ball.....try this on".

Mitch, Cant say I ever did that, but I did dream I was standing between the tractor tire and the engine taking a whizz and woke up just in time.

My better half has told me she's heard me in the middle of the night chasing cows, yelling, cussing at them and stuff. And cussing about working on something or ruther on the farm that wasn't working out as planned. Signs of being overworked....but NOT creepy. Don't care who says what!

I've had problems working on things, gotten stumped, and decided to "just sleep on it". Had a dream of a solution. It worked, and I wondered "why didn't I think of that".

I do that all the time. It is amazing how I will awake at 2:30 in the morning, sit up in bed, and say outloud "I got it!!" and either go ahead and do it or at least grab a pen and write/draw my idea. Thanks for my laugh of the day.

Don't laugh at this one guys & dolls.

My day job is high tech for a major mfgr; really tough stuff and stressful and all.

80% of solutions to my tough jobs came from ideas that whacked me in the middle of the night. Most of the time I would jump up and write the answer down....then return to the sack and sleep like a baby. The beautiful thing about farming (as a hobby not occupation) is that after a "tough day at the office" with the stress and traffic and meetings and people that want blood and all.....
come home, pop a beverage ( of choice) and listen to her purr while you smell that fresh earth rolling up behind you . Doesn't get better than that and that's why a lot of us are here.

Hey after dealing with youth most of my life-its refereshing to see one who is involved in something healthy and basicallt traditional. We need to get our youth more involved in these type things.

I am 18 years old and enjoy working with the local threshing shows and the Coulee Antique Engine Club. I hate seeing gentlemen two and three generations older than I am, knowing they know so much I don't know, so much history. I love sitting and talking with these old farmers, especially when I am able to get them to ramble about something they think was an unimportant event in 1957 that I will remember for the rest of my life. I am easily a minority age group in dealing with antique tractors, and I feel there is so much yet to be gained by the older enthusiasts to let this all go to history. My two best friends, who were my best friends before we ended up realizing we were all going to work at the same threshing show, are hardcore antique farmers... all three of us being 18. Everyone in the area thinks we are a pretty cool trio of friends, as you will never see anything else like it. May my generation pick up the tradition which has influenced our daily living today.

A great big 10-4 on that.

Problem is, most urban boys don't have a clue what is being experienced by the younger generation responding to these posts.

I was an urbanite until 35ish and went to the country (hopefully to get my boys out of city trouble). Problem was, they didn't have the visions the guys on here have and it took them another 30 years to realize what went screaming past them.

John: Nothing wrong with having a dream about tractors. The worst ones are the ones where you buy a real nice tractor for a ridiculously low price, only to wake up in the middle of it.

You can ask my good wife, she has heard me bidding on everything from tractors, equipment, livestock, etc. She has listened to me designing attachments. She claims the funniest one of all is me shouting in the middle of the night," No no no, you stupid Bas#$%^&." Just a little problem with some hired help slow to catch on.

She could perhaps enlighten you with many others, but I don't think I will make her aware of this thread. And John to the guy thinking this was weird, tell him to stick his head in the river. He has little imagonation.

When I was 9 or 10 (1949 or 1950) I had a dream that my Dad bought a new farmall. During the dream I remember thinking and wondering why it had numbers instead of letters for the model, and that it must be something I hadnt seen yet as it had a dash like instrument panel with all the gauges in a cluster. When the 300's and 400's came out in 1955, I nearly freaked out when I saw one for the first time, because they were almost identical to the one I imagined in my dream 4 or 5 years earlier. Makes me believe that there is a dimension to our being that we will never be able to understand or explain. I still work on my tractors a lot during the night, mostly planning sequences, but never anything I couldnt explain in the morning.

Hey I am 16 and I cant stop talking about tractors I like them alot. I own a Farmall Super C, a Farmall Super A, and a Ford golden Jubilee. Tractors are cool and there are not alot of kids out there my age that know what I am talking about and when I meat them its cool because you got someone to talk to about them.

John, two summers ago when I was restoring my Super C. I would go to bed thinking about what I would do the next day on it and what order I would want to proceed with things. And I must admit I did have some dreams. Most often I would be scrapping grease off with a puddy knive in my sleep all night. Wife had to wake me up a few times. Guess it freaked her out when mumbled in my sleep about getting her up on the jackstands and checking the hydraulics.

Its not that creepy at all.Im 40 and still dream of finding the perfect Farmall!Or even better I dream of being able to afford the perfect farmall.Dont worry,itll pass. Iwent through the same thing when I first got into collecting,then reality set in,now its just fun whether I find that perfect Farmall,or John Deere or Ford ..... ..... or NOT!

I havn't had dreams yet! But i am slightly obsessed with farmalls. i start talking to people about my tractor all over the place, they really don't care about it. I am almost 16 and have a farmall m, I like to tinker around on it. Now it is crappy outside and can't get in the shed cause there is ice at the bottom of the door. So i just come on yt and post things and answer things. Once it is nice outside i will be working on my tractor all the time!

Sounds like my life story, lol. Hey, and if you are, don't worry about not impressing the women, I'm 18 and the right one won't care about your tractors.
