I know that JI Case sold choppers that were the same as the IH 350 and 550. Did Case also sell hay balers the same as the IH ? Who made the IH and Case equipment?

IH made their own choppers in Hamilton Canada plant, I do know they made their Model 50 chopper and painted & decaled it for Case, never knew they made the newer 350/550 for Case. Balers I dont know, but IH were made in Memphis, both plants long gone.

Dont want to argue forever about this but from personal experience of being in parts for a red dealer since 1960 I had a customer that had a rebadged Case chopper that had IH part numbers on the cutter head parts, IH was very good in the good old days about numbering parts by stamping or casting numbers, It has been long enough ago that I dont recall the details but I never forgot this much about it. IH later was Case-IH and had some Hesston built choppers, dont remember any New Idea built, some other hay tools were rebadged NI.

International Harvester Company made IH equipment and JICase Company made Case equipment. I never knew of any implements made by IHC for Case. Some specal items were made by other companies and sold through IHC for IHC equipment, like Wagner, Danco, etc, and I'm sure the same was the same with Case, but IHC didn't build equipment for JICase.

IH always used to sell repainted/rebadged implements built by New Idea. Balers and mower/conditioners are the ones I remember, though this was through the 70's and 80's. They may have gotten their choppers there too.

I know the 720 and 830 choppers were also sold by Ford. Whether those were made by New Idea or Hesston, I can't remember.

This discussion could go on for days I do know from being the in equipment business for a few years that you would be shocked at who was making what for whom especially in the start of the lean years as for one of the orignal questions alot of the Case balers were made by Oliver also exactly the same as Hesston and Ford they were identical except for paint. I know from working the parts counter during lunchtime that sometimes customers knew better than we did as to who was making what when they would ask for a part for their machine and they would tell you it was the same as your blah, blah, blah and you would swear they were full of crap until you would look it up and it was. I long since kept my color loyality quiet to sell parts. The IH forage wagon was a Kasten along with the economy Gehl and Hesston. The real kicker was when I stopped for cold one after work one night and got in a fight when I told a guy his 850 JD tractor was a Yanmar, he came back the next day and apologized because he checked and found it was true, he traded it a week later for another Japanese tractor it was a sign of the times companies trying to protect their bottom line. You better check on who now owns the big Axial Flow Case IH combine and or who their in cahoots with I don't fight anymore by the way I understand bottom line as a farmer everyone should now understand.
