My H seems to be leaking in front of the trans up in the tractor behind the belly pump. How many seals are there in that area? I'm positive it is not the belly pump. How hard would it be to replace.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Sorry about the title. It is a Farmall H. The leak appears to be coming from the trans. side.

Thanks,
Mark

Two, main shaft that drives the transmission and the counter shaft which comes out of the trans to drive the belly pump. You have to drop the belly pump to replace either of them, I believe. Not hard, but the thing is heavy.

CNKS,

I've replaced both the mainshaft and countershaft seals on my H without dropping the belly pump. The countershaft seal is the easy one. The mainshaft seal is a bit harder - you have to hold your mouth just right to get the driveshaft out of the way, but it can be done.

On a H you can pull the spacer that drives the lift-all pump and change the lower seal easily. The upper one is not flooded with oil so I doubt if it is leaking.

An M doesn't have that spacer - will have to remove the pump.

My Super H does not have a belly pump, so it just has a cap where the countershaft goes, main shaft leaked like a seive until I replaced the seal.
