Stabilizer bars

I have an IH 684 with a Cat 2 3 pt. hitch. The implements have quite a bit of swing to them when hooked up. Several friends have told me that the check chains are all that are needed on an IH. I grew up with an MF 50 that had solid stabilizer bars that kept everything rock solid. I was wondering if anyone out there has a 684 or similar IH tractor and uses solid stabilizer bars?
Thanks!!

We had a 574 and you needed bars to keep the bush hog off the tires. I adjusted the chains but still need the stabilizars. You can buy them at Tractor supply for about $15 each.

My brother has 684 and only uses the sway chains.
Depending on the implement he has to put the chains in a different hole on the bracket under the axle. Haven't used sway bars since 8N Ford in the 1950s.
I am not saying that your application does not require sway bars but in my brothers case he does not require them.
