I have to replace my main bearings in my H. I know there are three bearings to replace. How hard is it to replace, how long should it take (providing every thing goes good) and what is the recommended gap on shaft?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim not hard make sure remember how the cap came off, do one at a time the bearing has a tab so it can't rotate. There are tools to help remove the top half, I had a set of pins that would go in the oil hole of the crank then just turn the crak and roll the bearing out, or a flexable bearing driver that would go around the crank. clean the shaft off, oil the new bearing and push it in place, mkae sure the tab is in the right place.

Don't you have to split the tractor and remove the rear main seal retainer to drop the rear main cap?

The rear main is right in front of the rear main seal so you don't have to split the tractor. it does have a plate over it that you have to remove first though.
