The 3 pt on my IH966 does not go down nice and smooth when you have anything very heavy on it. If you move the lever very very slowly it will go down easy. If you work it like it should be it drops about say 2 inches at a time. I have a sprayer on it and it seems it would like to jar the heck out of it whenever you try to lower it some. Someone must have ideas on this.

I have found, thru working on several "66" and "56' series IHC tractors that there is either wear in linkage, or else the control spool for the 3 pt is sticking..... usually removing the top cover and going thru the linkage and resealing the 3 point control spool and related valves will solve the problem of slow/erratic operation

good luck!

Wade,

Excuse the obvious, but do you have your draft control down where it belongs?

Wade, I think you do have to move the lever slow to have a heavy implement drop smoothly. That is the way it was on my 706 german.

I guess its more like not slow or fast but its does not go down smooth. it just drops inches at a time.
