I'm attempting to rebuild my 41 H and have a question about the brakes. I pulled the drums and it seems that the snout that the seal rides on is worn and I know if I put a new seal in it's still going to leak. Do they make a sleeve for this? If so where do I get them. One last question who makes a gasket kit for stuff like the axle housings. I've looked at some of the online suppliers and they don't list them, maybe I have to call for that. Thanks for any help.

When replacing the seal behind the brake drum, put in 2 new seals. That way at least one of them will ride on an unused portion of the drum sealing surface and your leaks will quit. Lubricate in between the seals with a lithium grease to prevent the second seal from riding on a dry surface.

Thanks for the tips. The seal I removed was about an inch thick, I originally thought it was 2 seals. I guess someone had a problem with the leak before. I'll check into those speedy sleeves they have to be cheaper than a drum, I have to pinch pennys on this where I can I still need a ton of parts for this.

Mike, I had the same thing happen on my H I am currently working on. I decided to go to the salvage yard and get a different on. It was fairly inexpensive. Roger

The gaskets are still available from Case-IH unless they have been discontinued in the last few months. Buy the seal first and see if you can get it on an unworn part of the shaft, if so you won't need the speedy sleeve. The new seal probably won't resemble the old one, unless it's been replaced in the last few years.

"speedy sleeve" ask about it where you get the seals. You will likely have to make your own gaskets. Get gasket paper at any auto parts store. rough cut the paper and lay it on the casting you want to seal. with a light hammer you can tap around and the sharp edge will cut the gasket in mirror immage. use the round end of a ball peen hammer to locate the bolt holes and a light tapping will cut the holes too. You're welcome.
