May have been running it wide open too soon. I would've thought tractor engines take so long to warm up this would not be a threat but I guess it is. I don't use my H for anything but hour-long tasks. I've confirmed the operation of the thermostat and temp meter and the needle never registers anything while in operation. Let us know if you find it's something else like a blocked oil port, etc. Sorry for this episode but you're already way more experienced than I in disassembly/reassembly.

Your learning just like me. First I cracked the block on our A towing it, then i cracked the hydraulic pump on my M/SM. So welcome to the club, I'm 16, And i dont know a thing about tractors compared to some of the guys on here

ya, but you're learnin' fast kid! I just cleaned up the live pump. it looks real good and is an m&w. I bet it brings $200. I hope I can get some stuff listed later today, I'll send you the link.

sounds like a complete teardown to fix it right. start by pulling the piston out the bottom. If you think th sleeve is not hurt too bad you might not have to pull the head. I have used parts. And next time don't let it run wide open, they will self-destruct

Sorry to hear of your misfortune...

Sounds like maybe someone over-torqued a rod bolt.. Hope you can get it back together.

Dave in CT;

Probably running it full throttle too soon. But I have done that and never had a problem.

Well, I thought that might be a bit over-cautious with a tractor engine so, we'll see if he can find something to link the cracking to directly.
