I would like to know how much horsepower a Farmall H has from the drawbar and the belt, and the pto. I heard that the belt is about 28, which seems pretty small for it, just wanted to know.

The rated horse power of any old tractor will sound low but it is a matter of how they are tested. Modern engines are tested at an RPM just below the point that they scatter and with no load so they can achieve a high number mostly for sales purposes. The H was rated at the normal operating RPM under full load. So HP ratings don't really mean much to me. It is the torque and the tractors ability to apply that torque that matters. I challenge you to a pull off with any modern tractor thats rated at 25 drawbar HP and I guarentee your H will drag it all over the county!

A good H makes about as much power as a new riding mower. It has a lot more traction and torque than quite a few of the modern utility tractors. My neighbor's 4710(?) Kabota is no match for my H when it come to pulling. Running the loader is something else.

My husband and I own a farmall-H and we need a wiring schematic. Can you help us to find one?

Follow the links on the 1st page (something about M generator not charging) to Bob M's electrical pages.

Hotline farm equipment guide says it has 20 brawbar and 24 belt. That does sound a little weak to me.

This is not scientific ,just my opinion,I would guess around 30 belt and 28 pto hp and probably 24 drawbar, remember those #'s are just out of my head compared to what I think my old H does.

According to Guy Fay's IH Data Book, it is 25.5 drawbar and 27.9 pto/belt.
