Fannie, the 41 H has been sitting for a couple of months while I recover from a broken leg. Went out to get her moving and found the clutch and brake pedals to be unresponsive. You push them in, they do not come back. To get her in gear I got to pull back on the clutch. Little movement in brake pedals and real sticky. Know I need a brake job, but all the pedals all at once?

There is one shaft that runs through the tractor from one side to the other, the two brake pedals are mounted to this shaft on the right side, and the clutch pedal is mounted to the same shaft on the left side. The clutch and brake pedals are supposed to pivot on this shaft, but things do get sticky sometimes. Locate the place where the pedals are mounted to the shaft and spray liberally with penetrating oil such as WD-40 or similar, work the pedals back and forth by hand and keep spraying the oil. It may take a while, but things should begin working again. This is a common problem with any old tractor that sits outside.

Once you have them loosened up, use some REAL oil!! WD-40 dries up quickely, leaving the acid they put in there to eat rust. Welds stuff solid if you don't use some thing after!! :( BTDT
