Was looking at the newest find and peeled a chip from the gas tank and it had white paint underneath it.tag is faded badly serial is 74779 and it has a 1815 also stamped below it.picker has a 2302314r81r tag on it.Did IH make a demonstrator picker?or was the primer colored white?

That serial number would make it a 51 C. I'am not sure what serial number range the white demenstrator tractors were. Did the picker have white paint or juct the tractor? IH did not use primer in the 50's just put the red paint on.

I did some looking and found that the white C's were between serial numbers 47010-54411. So your C would not have been painted white from the factory if it still has its original serial number.

ok I went and looked and it seems to be on the tank only.(probably replaced)Thanks for the help,pics turned out real crappy,suppose I could still post em..I'll post here when I get them up.thanks again

well it was flaking off the rotten(yeah its stuck too) lidless fuel tank.I can see where its bleeding thru the neglect in places,I will check today and see, and maybe get a website hosted too so i can post a cheezy-cam pic or two.

I seen a WHITE BALER and have read that some machinery was painted WHITE during the MARCH,50 dealer promos.
