I recently had a post about a 300 dollar cub, turns out the tractor was an A.The tractor is a "41 model, which explains why it doesn"t have a starter. The tractor runs, but needs a clutch assembly. The sheet metal seems complete, but in need of a paint job,as is the case with the whole tractor.I"m still wondering if this is a good buy?

Brent: That story"s worth a chuckle, as it was exactly what happened to me with my "45 "A"! A friend saw it and mistook it for a Cub. He talked to me and wanted to know if I wanted it for spare parts for my Cub. We looked at it, and I immediately saw it was an "A". I still got it, however, as the price was quite reasonable. $300 is an excellent price for that "A"--I"d buy it in a heartbeat!

Brent, Cubs are more popular, but an A has more power if you intend to use it rather than sell it. If you intend to fix it up for shows it should be fairly popular, since ones without starters are fairly rare. One note, an A was not available with hydralics. They lifted implements with either a hand lift or a pneumatic (exhaust powered) lift, which is a rare item. It's still well worth the $300

Well, a cub would be a better deal IMHO but an A for #300 seems like it might be a buy also. What can you buy for $300? If it were running with a dumpy paint job do you think you could get $1,300 for it. Tires are important, as well as the engine running, tin all there, trans or diff problems you'll have to fix those, brakes too. You fix it all maybe you can get $1,800. You don't explain the condition well and it also depends on where you are loated. Tracors are like women, you never know what they'll bring to the table.

don't sound bad to me, a clutch should run you about $100.00 for disc.
