H with single tire front end?

I have a single tire on my 42 H but I can not find any pictures anywhere of an H with a single tire front end. Originally it had steel in the back, and I assume on the front but has since been converted to rubber. All tires need replacing. Before I replace tires I would like to know what“should” go on the front? Any Ideas?

I have a 51 H with a single front tire. I was told that they were used when a picker was mounted on them. Miller tire has them (9X10) for $115 plus shipping.

Hi Scott,

If the tractor was originally sold in irrigated country, it almost certainly came equipped with a single front end (Hard to get a trike down an 18" row).

There were two sizes; a 10" like the little mower tractors have and also a larger 16" wheel. Most row crop farmers opted for the 16". Also, there was an option of a stamped steel wheel or cast; here again, most opted for the cast wheel.

Other than in pictures, I was 53 years old before I ever laid eyes on a real tricycle frontend; all had either single or wide.

There is no "should" as the SF, NF, and WF all interchanged. If the tractor was ordered without specifying the type of front, it came with the dual front wheels (NF). All are correct.

Many of the 1940"s H"s had a single front wheel. It isn"t really rare or uncommon, just may not be many around in your area. I see pictures of them every so often on Ebay or on this site Photo Ads. ---Jeff
