Hi,

I need the following:
1) where is the temperature sender (old type, not an electrical sending unit)supposed to be located? it"s on a D-514 (the european version of the 504 utility) with D-188 engine. (If you want the story on that 504 vs D-514 thing, just ask and I"ll post it here).
2) the sensor is missing so what sensor needs to be in there?
I really need to get this working, don"t want to "cook" the engine!!

thanks
Jokke

During the late fifies and sixties, IH germany (located in Neuss am Rhein) build there tractors from 15 HP tot 40 HP all types started with D- (ex. D-326 was 3cyl. 26HP). Halfway the 60's there was a demand for more powerfull tractors. So they added the American Farmall 504 to the line.
Basically they took the 504 with all options, only diesel engines(D-188) and sold it here as D-504, later they changed the number to D-514, because Peugeot (french car manufacterer) patented the middle "O" for there cars.

If you're eager to know what it looks like, well it looks like a 504 utility.

Next are 2 links to a brochure of the D-514(put it on my website at the next update, but for now:)

Give us the 504 vs. D-514 story, I'd be interested to know how they compare. Anyway, the sender should be located in the cylinder head, possibly near the exhaust manifold. Bad news is, it sounds like you'll be buying a whole new guage. Those old style guages had a tube filled with gas connecting the guage to the sensing bulb in the engine. If anything happens to that tube, the whole thing is junk.

ok, I 've seen they put a plug in the head, probably that's the right place.
I'll see how to get it to work, maybe change to electric sender and gauge.
