I just acquired the toolbox that hangs on the lightbar. It is in almost perfect condition. However the decal on the top is mostly illegible, you can make out "Harvester" and a little more. Where do you find the right decal for this toolbox?

The surface underneath the decal is struck with a flatening die so that the decal sticks better. This would seem to indicate that the factory placed its own decal on that spot. If you have an original lid that hasn't been sandblasted or heavily rusted, you may be able to discern the imprint of the die.

I haven't seen an original decal but I doubt if they were dealer produced and applied.

Mark Mathis in Cairo, MO reproduces the tool box. His fabricator strikes the lid with the same die. Mark may have the right decal.

You guys are good. There is an indentation there, an "imprint" if you will. I sanded the top with 280 and there it was. So now how do I get in touch with this guy in Cairo Mo.? BTW ever been to Cairo? Downtown? Have any idea what the repro box sells for. I had to ante up 65 dollars for this one at a farm auction
but is isw in perfect condition with both the clips and zero rusting or pits or wear inside, looks like it was never used on a tractor. Just a bunch of pigeon sh-- on the lid where it must have been stored in a hay loft or some such place.

What does the decal say? I presumed it was info on the patent such as numbers

I believe that decal would have been a "dealer" decal, giving the dealers name, the town he was in, etc.

Hi Gordo,

If I'm not mistaken, that toolbox was an add-on, after thought accessory.

Hard tellin ' what decal would have been put on yours.

Just guessin',

Allan

Closer inspection does reveal a lot of small print on the decal/label. I'll bet it was a dealer label, much like some of those we see the car dalers using. If anyone sees one from a Farmall Dealer from the 50's scarf it up and I'll use it.
