I found a 1066 that I have never seen before. It is a Hydro model 1066 WITH a TA. I can buy it but don't know what it is worth.

Can anybody help me?

Havne There is no such thing as a hydro with a TA there was a 1066 hydro and a 1066 with TA but not both. And yes a 1066 Hydro would be rare.

Ace, I believe he is referring to the high and low range on the right side on the dash.

Hayne,

Is that a hi-low box you are calling a T/A?

At any rate, this reminds me of the poor old soul that is trying to sell that outfit up on ebay.

Hydro is out of the thing and he wants the hydro repair price for the tractor.

Dunno, maybe there is someone out there who is crazy like me who will bite. :>)

Hydros are really nice when they work; but, when they don't, ya better get a firm grasp on your Fruit of the Looms' 'cause it will rock your world to get 'em goin' again.

Just my low-altitude opinion,

Allan

I guess that is a high/low, there was no decal or anything to say what it was, it looked like the same lever as a TA lever, but on the right side of the steering wheel.

Could you shift from low to high and high to low as you were moving, or did you shift it while standing still?

It was parked about 3 years ago under a shed, it was running and everything worked good, has a frontend loader on the front. It was used at a cotton gin to pull trailers and spread gin trash, no heavy pulling, tach has a little over 1,500 hrs.

What's it worth?

Hayne,

Yes, that lever over on the right is the Hi-Lo "Range" control.

1500 hours? You sure?

If I was absolutely positive on the hours, I'd easily go $10K to $15K on the thing.

You sure about those hours? You sure it isn't 15,000 hours?

Allan

I am sure on the hours, the tractor was only used 3 months out of the year, every so often during the summer.

When they work, they work fine don't they Allan? But when they don't they are a lot like a big old lawn mower that won't start. They would make a good boat anchor and that is about all. And like Allan said, you could probably replace the tractor for not much more than it would cost to repair that "automatic" transmission. It was International's first attempt at an agricultural automatic transmission, and while it was a good idea, if used a lot and often, they failed miserably, and it didn't take long for the word to get out, and they just kind of faded from the picture till some heavy duty improvements were made.

Our neighboors having been using there 1066 Hydro ever since they bought it new in the early 70's. They also later on purchased a 986 and 1086 new. Even though they have the newer power they use the 1066 for almost everything. No-till drilling, bush hogging, round and square baling, mowing and chopping forage. That tractor has NEVER been side lined with Hydro problems ever. If you check the fluids normally these tractors should have no problem going on for many years to come.

A 1066 with a Hydro is a very rare find. If the engine and Hydro is in pretty good shape I would put it about 7,000 maybe a lil less. If you aren't interested later in buying this tractor please drop me a line at adamparsons3291@hotmail.com Thanks
