I am working on a 1948 Farmall Cub for my uncle. Originally when I started working on it, it was firing on the #1 and #2 cylinders. No fire on #3 and #4. I changed plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button, and points and now I am not getting any spark to any of the plugs. Could it be the coil or magneto? I am at a loss now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a mag I may be able to help. Do you have anyway of taking a digital pic of it? If its a J4 mag and you replaces the rotor it should have cost you 25.00 to 30.00 range . If its a dist it would have cost just a few bucks. If you want to email me I will see what I can do to Help. I have distributors and magnetos for the C60 motors. I will uncover my email adress. Also I live in NY . JON

it could be the coil, but before changing any parts it's a good idea to check for the real problem. A little late now so much harder to do. Parts get expensive after changing evrything. First did you check to see that the points were operating properly? check point gap? check for spark there first. then move back from there. if you had spark before it isn't likely to be gone now, just something out of whack. also check wires into and inside distributor to be sure there are none bare or rubbing on metal and that you reinstalled insulating washers properly on distributor connection.

Does this tractor have a distributor or a magneto?
I think you should rotate the engine until NO1
piston is at TDC on the compression stroke. The notch on the pulley should aliign with the pointer
on the crankcase front cover.

Your rotor should be at No1 position. If it is check your plug wire to the sparkplug. The rotor rotates clockwise so the next plug wire is to No3, No4 and No2.

If it is a distributor set point gap to
.020". A magneto setting is .013". Make sure none of wires on your points are touching and are grounding out. If you have a point file or some 320 emery cloth rub those new points. Hal
