Hopefully one of you more informed collectors can enlighten me. On page 46 of the latest Red Power Mag there is a picture of a W-2 included with a 4,6 and 9. I"ve read a few books etc. but never heard of these. What can you tell me? Mike

I thought the one in the picture looked like a W-4 also. However, it doesn't look quite like one. So I am starting to wonder if it is a European-built model of some sort.

I'll have to get out the mag. glass and check out the decal. I also saw it but thought that probably the printer got it wrong and that there were really 2 - W-4's, W-6 & W-9.

Like the rest of you I don't think there was ever any W's smaller than the W-4.

Sounds like a government procurement, maybe for the Treasury Dept?

Well Mike, After reading your post I pulled out the magnifying glass to check out that picture. He does indead have it decaled as a W2. I"m very partial to the W"s I have owned a few and still have a SW4. I have alot of literature on them and feel confident unless this was some rare before production prototype to say ( There aint no such thing ). I think he might be pulling a fast one on us. Maybe its a W4 only running on 2 cylinders.

So Mr Frank Braun from Racine WI , If your reading this you have some explaining to do.

I hope he writes back

Don't know about a W2 but have seen two T2's. Have a picture of one at the 2002 Red Power Round Up in Penfield Ill. The other was at the all IH show in Brooks OR. this past July. The one at the RPR is a 1948 and has a blade. I have not seen any literature on a T2, but there they were, and seeing as how I'm not an expert on IH I try to learn something new every day. Play safe and fair. Morgan

I believe the crawlers are T-2's about as much as the Shop Mules are W-2s. I believe they were made by a small company in Portland, OR using some IH components. The crawler at 2002 RPR didn't have any data plate I could find though.

I noticed that also, first thought was a misprint, but it does appear to have a W2 decal. I've never heard of it.

I noticed it too. There is no such thing as a W-2. The closest thing to a W-2 would be a Huber Shop Mule which was built from an A which is the correct engine size in line if there had ever been a W-2.

That is a Hebard Shop Mule, not a Huber. And yes, it there had been a W-2, it would have been like the Hebard. No such thing as a W-2 and the one in that picture looks too big for a Hebard. It looks like a W-4 to me.
