I am looking at this tractor to buy. It has a int. loader and P/S. Is this a live pto on this model? Would this tractor pull a one or two bottom plow? What would be the approx weight of this tractor with loader? What HP is this 4 cylinder? It has a 4 speed with high/low gears.
High and low pto. There is a lever at the rear of both foot rests that controls something any ideas?
Thank you for any help
Gary

Hi Y71VET:
I have owned a Model 284 for a year now. It only has 800 hours on it and runs very well. The rear lever at your left foot position is the emergency brake and at the right foot is the differential lock-up. I have a 55 gal drum set on the draw bar for balance (~500lbs.) since it has a front end loader. Great little tractor. Engine burns a little oil, but not to the extreme. The 3 point hitch is a bit of an odball, since I had to jury rig the draw bar supports and could not find exact parts.

hi y71vet, i used to have one of these, as i remember the levers on the back of the foot rest, were : right hand worked like a brake lock when the tractor was running, you applied the brkes and pulled the leaver up and it held the tractor in place, ours worked for about 5 minutes then bled off, the left hand as i remember is a differential lock, the up position locked the rear wheels togeather,im guessing the weight as around 2400 lbs for the bare tractor, and i believe if it has the mazda gas engine in it it had 24 horsepower, i usauly just used ours for mowing, but i did hook a 14 foot harrow to it one time just for fun, the little booger pulled it!, it just didnt have enough weight to go straight with it, pretty good little utility machine ericlb
