Hey Max- i think everyone pretty much answered your ??"s - but i just felt obligated to offer a bit of advice (warning) ....if you"r condidering the W4 from Dave Pearson in Can. - be carefull ! he trimed me to the tune of several thousand $$$ a couple years ago on a load of tractors - he did"nt just stretch the truth or misrepresent ..... .he outright lied ! running tractor with stuck motor -- huydraulics , fenders , weights , carbs ,distributors, water pumps , generators (etc ,etc) all missing - like new tires that you could stick your fingers thru the sidewall (etc,etc)..... ..BUT , on the possative side - he"s the only crook i"ve ran into in the tractor bussiness ! hope these comments are not inapropriate-normally i figure if i can"t say good about someone , then say nothing - but this guy was so extreme - just hate to see someone else get burned

W-4 was McCormick-Deering, I-4 was International.
Yeah, same thing, just different.
I-4 had the same engine, frame, sheetmetal, steering gearbox, and various accessories. Differences include a much thicker transmission cover, foot throttle, much thicker rear wheel discs. Drawbar supports were mounted different also, hung from the trans cover.
Don't really know about the transmission gearing or governor setting, mine started life as a O-4 but was converted at the factory and sent to Fort Wayne truck prior to being sold. Many were special ordered and so the variances were many.

Are you from the PAW PAW just north of RT80 and a few miles east of RT39? Just curious, I live in Naplate and I usually make the tractor pull there.

Foot throttle on I-4,maybe heavier front axle, faster gears, different fenders and platforn than w,but other wise the same.Oh,engine speed was up a tad I think.

That's about it except different standard wheels and hitch also. I4 is a International, W4 is a McCormick or McCormick Deering, H is Farmall.
