Once we get the carb put back on are A, we are taking it to a Dairy farmer\Fabricator, He is going to put are 5 ft blade on it. We have The 2 handle's that go on the left side of the tractor and some twisted metal piece, not sure if we need it or not. Now, this summer we put a new tire on the left side, it is a 23deg bar, and the right side is a 45deg, both have lots of tread, will this affect the pushing at all? Do we need tire chains? and weight for the back end? I have heard from Hugh and some other guys that these tractors are monsters in snow. If any of you have any pics of A's with blades on them and would be willing to post them that would be great.- PS I was supposed to get back to a guy who posted a pic of santa on an A, I think his name was scotty, that was awile ago, but i never did.

Yes, your A will make a great little plow tractor. The tread pattern won't affect the useage, as long as you got good tread. None of my tractors have matching patters (use what we can get) but the tread is good. And we have had no problem with them. We get a lot of snow here in Central New York, and the A has been keeping the driveway clean faithfully for many years. I got a super A last year, and I agree that the hrydraulics are nice. My father uses pneumatic lifts (which work well for what he does with it) and I also have an A with hand lifts. All three do well. Have fun with yours. Oh, and I would definetly recomend tire chains, and a set of weights if you can get some. Even if you mount a box on the drawbar and add weight that way (my grandfather used to use lead).

Farmall Man, Here is a pic of the side of my A, you can see the frame I fabricated below the tractor. I also made another frame that goes between the rear housings and that inturn pins onto the long frame under the tractor. The front of frame bolts up to the steering box, I made a solid square bar to go through the cultivator mount on the steering box and used 1/2" bolts to fasten it. The plow pivot is directly below that. I used heavy wall 1 1/4" square heavy wall tubing. You will also see two pulleys that I fabricated, one on the frame and the other mounted on the side of the engine. The blade width is 68" I believe. Would be happy to help you if any questions.

Mitch: I will send you a photo later today of my fabricated blade on Farmall 130. Yes they are little monsters when comes to snow. You should have hydraulics though. A snowblade is going to be a lot heavier than you think.

I just purchased a Super A. The lady I bought it from emailed me a picture of it with a snow plow attached the way her dad had used it for about 30 years in New York. (I never see snow here in north Florida). I"ll be glad to try and forward the pic if you want to send me your email address. I"ve been trying for several minutes to figure outhow to copy it to this message, but have not been successful.
