I posted earlier, about my power steering problem. If i pull a hyd lever, the power steering is absolutely wonderful, but only for a maximum of ten seconds, then it locks up, and it takes a while before it works again. I have tested for PSI before, and it is about 300 psi below normal, so how much are hyd. pumps, where do i get them, and how big of a hastle are they to get on?

Bryce: I tend to agree with tractor vet on this. Hydraulic pumps aren't very notorious for healing themselves, not even for that moment when you activate that valve.

It sounds to me like you have a problem in the valving more then pump problems , if you have to short out a valve and you get steering then more then likely you have our it happened before you got this tractor that the littel plug between the valves blew out and now the steering pressure is bypassen. or the flow divider is sticking and your pressure regulator spring is weak.

Depends on the tractor, one for a farmall 450 is around $600.

it sounds like you have pressure enough, it is just not routed properly.
