My buddy has an M that is painted red with a 3 inch yellow stripe running through the middle. he claims it won't pull worth a darn, so he calls it "ole yllow".

I have a green 400. The color suspiciously looks like US Forest Service green, not the "take-your-money" JD green.

This one is mine, it previously belonged to the county roads dept. The original red paint is underneath all of that yellow.

Many yellow IHC tractors were ordered by road/park/street/highway departments throughout the country. Yellow was considered the high visability color of the 40's and 50's. Actually IHC would paint any tractor any color specifed on the order. Probbly was extra charge or a minimum order. My nickel Dick Davis
