Well, at long last I've begun the restoration of a family heirloom. A '1 owner since new' '43 H. My grandfather bought it during WWII and my Dad and myself both learned to drive tractors with it. It is looking a little rough, but it has been shedded most of its life. Got a gallon of Kroil and the air impact wrench out yesterday and got all the sheet metal off. Will post pictures soon. I'm depending on the Farmall board people to keep me motivated!

Ben, I don't know wherer in Kansas you are but the "Power of the Past Antique Engine & Tractor Association" in Ottawa, Kansas is restoring a 1949 Farmall "H". If you are anywhere close you are welcome to come by and see our project and visit with all the guys about yours.

Let me know and I will give you directions. We work on it on Sunday mornings.

BIG JOHN

I am in Gardner, KS, and in the process of restoring a Case 430. I would be very interested in meeting you and your group and learning about painting / sandblasting resources in the area.

Go for it! My buddy restored a 43 H while I was working on my 52 SC. Can't wait to see pictures of yours. Does it have spoke rears?

It will have spoke rears if it has either steel wheels, or steel wheel cutoffs with a rim attached for rubber tires -- lot of people seem to like the way the cutoffs look. Factory rubber has cast rears. The F series, 12,14,20,30, etc did have spoke rears with factory rubber. We had an H with cutoffs and one with factory rubber when I was a kid. I think my dad liked the old F20 better than the 1st H he bought on steel.
