You said axle seals, the post below mentions inner seals (what I call brake drum seals, parts book calls them seals for the differential shaft pinion) -- that number is 51494DA/358786R91/358825R91.

These are Super A part numbers, I assume that the A is the same, may not be. Seal, 358 810 R91; felt washer, 15017D; gasket, 48009DA. If no one confirms these double check with your Case-IH dealer or call Carter and Gruenwald 866-327-6255. If seal looks different, but fits, it is probably correct, as the newer seals bare little resemblance to the ones that came on your tractor.

Hey what is the Felt washer for? I am about to do the same thing to my Super A before I get it painted. Also would you know the after market part number for the PTO seal?
Thanks Shaggy

I consider the felt washers that are common on all models to be dust seals, don't know for sure. Also makes things fit better, because the part was made to use one. IH lists three numbers for the PTO seal, they are either the same seal or are interchangeable:48114D,358776R91, 358816R91. Any bearing/seal dealer can cross to a National or Chicago rawhide number, perhaps NAPA, also. IH no longer makes their own seals, so theirs are likely the same as the two companies mentioned. My Case-IH dealer is usually 30-100% higher than the exact same seal bought from my local bearing dealer.

Hey, I changed a few of those !! NAPA has the seals, and as the last post said, they bear little resemblance to the original, but they work just fine. You have to dissassemble darn near the whole rear of the tractor to put them in (inner seals)...might as well check and clean the brake linings etc. while you're in there. Good luck, and my book says the "A" and super "A" seals are the same. Jim
