I need an extension kit in order to mount fenders on my H. I have seen oneset that had 10 holes init, another had 8. What do I need here, and what is correct? Who sells these kits reasonably?

I bought mine from Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch. They come without the spacers, but I made those out of 1/2 inch electrical conduit. It cuts easy and after they are painted, look like the real deal. HTH. Larry

Gordo:

Bought a pair for my H last fall (8 hole type). I got them for around 20 bucks on ebay, and boy do they ever make a big difference!

You need one or the other. Which doesn't matter. The 10-hole version allows for some more adjustment, or to have the fenders moved in/out farther.

I made my own using 3/8" X 4.5" flat stock, moved them out about 6".Gives you more leg-room,and a lot easier to get on and off tractor also.

I want the extensions because I am set at 76 inches rear wheels for 38 inch rows on the planters. So the rears are out there a long ways and the fenders look real strange in their original holes. I do have an extra VERY NICE set of original IH fenders, dipped, etch primered, and red sealer primed for H if anyone needs a pair. Thanks for the help.

If you ever come across a pair of 460 (row crop) fenders, let me know -- I'm broke at the moment, or at least after I pay for all the 460 engine work.

If you have the correct fenders, why do you need an extension kit -- I ask because my H does not have fenders, but I thought I knew how they are mounted--with 4 bolts, and 4 spacers 1/2 x 1 1/8. Or am I missing something? Those are the only things listed in the parts book, so technically, the only thing that is correct, perhaps not the only thing that is functional.--But, I'm not a fender person, the one I grew up with did not have them, the 3 I have now don't have them.

I guess you answered my question, you would need to get them above the drawbar brackets, particularly if the clamp in front is taller to accomodate some front mounted equipment?--just curious.

Find some 1/2" steel and make a set yourself.
