Step one- unhook the fuel line from the carb. Place a container under it. Open the fuel tank shut-off valve. You should get a good strong stream of fuel.

Step two- hook the fuel line back up. Look for a plug in the bottom of the carb bowl. Move your container under it. Remove the plug and let the bowl drain. Turn the key switch on, if the solenoid is working, you will hear it "click". You should get a good strong flow of fuel. If these two steps check out, the tank outlet, sediment bowl, line, solenoid and needle valve are fine, meaning the trouble is still in the carb.

If you still suspect the solenoid after these two checks, remove it and replace it with a plug. check the flow out of the bottom of the carb bowl again. If you still do not get a good flow, the needle valve is probably stuck or plugged. If the solenoid proves to be bad, you should replace it. It prevents the engine from "running on" after the key is switched off. I know of a C-200 out of a 544 that will run on for about 30 seconds when it gets shut down hot.
