Do you have any Idea what the last s/n was on the last M? I have a 52 M Farmall that is S/N 296965, and just bought a 52 Super M with S/N 634. The casting codes are only a month a part. The Straight M has FACTORY disc brakes, and has the Super M flywheel and big clutch, as well as the faster rearend. I know about the debate on the brake thing, but I know these are factory because I put factory disc back in them. Thanks for the help. Donnie

There's no "debate on the brake thing." It's a PROVEN FACT that the last 2000 Ms built in 1952 had the factory disk brakes on them.

IH made tractors of a specific model until they ran out of parts. Since these '52 tractors had M engines in them, they were Ms. If they'd put the larger Super M engine in them, they'd be Super Ms.

My Dad's '51 M was built about 12-7-1951, and it has the larger 12" clutch also. But didn't have disc brakes or the faster gear speeds the Super M had from the factory. It got them eventually but they were after-market. I'm not positive but I think the ser. # was 292,XXX or 291,XXX.

Guy may be tied up at the IH winter Convention and a little slow to respond, but according to his IH tractor data book, the last serial was 298218. I have seen posts by him and some others before, that some of the Super M items were fazed in as non Super ran out before the Super run started. I've also seen notes that there were some carryovers.

I've got a straight W6 with disc brakes and the bigger clutch. Don't know about the gears. The S/N is after the last listed W6.

I read somewhere that these were the 'tweeners. Built when the production lines were switching from the straights to the Supers.
