I am trying to lift out the right track steering clutch. There is not enough room, I need another 1/4 inch of clearance. My shop manual mentions a angle compression tool, but the problem is that I do not have one or know what it does. My guess is that it compresses the clutch spring to give me a little more room to lift out the clutch assembly.

Does anyone know what the angle compression tool is or have any other great tricks?

OMG do not take the bolts out that keep the clutch pack depresses. I have heard rumors about them letting go.

I tried turning the bearing adjuster to give more space, it appears to be on all of the way. I successfully removed repaired and replaced the other side without ever running into this problem. Any other ideas.
