Find someone with a steam jenny that uses a commerical detergent. We used them to remove
cosmolene. A grease most military parts are
packed with before shipment. Hal

We use a product at work that's put out by Zep and we've also used one by Davies. Both were degreasers and worked really good and it also helps to use a pressure washer that has hot water to melt the grease. These products will stain paint if left on to long and will take your finger prints off your hands after a while so be carefull when using this stuff.

In the old days of cheap gas, I used a mix of fuel oil and gas. I have a concrete form oiler / sprayer (gas will break most sprayers with rubber parts. I just spray the mixture on avoiding rubber parts, let it soak and respray the very old dried on areas for a few days. Then power wash with a dirt buster nozzle with very hot water and final wash with a harsh detergent. Common sence is a must. Dave NE IA

I stripped a tractor with oven cleaner from the dollar store. It worked great. If you can do it on a damp, foggy day and keep re-applying the cleaner so it stays moist, it will also remove the paint. I would use a pressure washer first to remove some of the loose gunk before using the oven cleaner.

Knights Products makes a product called "Grease-Off".It disolves grease.Thats its only purpose. It comes in spritzer bottles, gallons, and 5 gallon pails.I have seen it used on greasy shirts, pants, and carpeted floormats with excellent results.

Oven Cleaner, paint strippers, pressure wash, wire brush -- there is no easy way. Unless you just want to wash and spray like some people do.

You have to do a pretty thourough job for paint its going to be more hands on than just applying some degreaser and spraying off with a hose.Work the degreaser in as much as possible.SU100 motorcycle degreaser is good Gunk is good but smells bad on a hot engine.Maybe get a box of throw away rags also.Just keep scraping away at it.
