I have a propane tank, carb, and all the other stuff from an M. I want to use it on another M. How can I refill the tank? Will a gas grill tank refill the tractor tank? Any insight on how easy it is to use? Should I plan on using gasoline until I get the tractor tuned and running well, then switch out the carb/tank/etc to propane?

JG

Hi John, What I use for a gas can is an old bottle from a fork lift. It has the inside nozzle on the bottom to get liquid. As for filling. The Railroad Commision won't let them fill tractors any more, but they won't roll a truck for under 100 gallons anyway. I've caught the guy when he was filling down the road and he was glad to sell me some LP. The thing to remember is just that Propane is always sold as a liquid it's just a matter of where the pickup is. Your tractor only runs on the gas but having the liquid valve on too makes sure it has enough for heavy pulls.

Around here most homes are heated with lp. I have seen many tanks at peoples homes/farm with a hose to refill tractors....Jim

you need a liquid line to fill your tank, (something a 20# bottle don't have) You can run the tractor straight off a bottle, Just wire the bottle to the tractor and rig up a hose of somekind. You will only have vapor so no heavy pulling but it will run fine. Most tractors have a T built into the line cuz that's what you have to do when you run out of fuel in the field.

Unless ya got the nurse tank and pump to fill your owen propane i would never mess with it or have your propane dealer come out and fill it when it needs to be filled.
