I'm beyond stumped here folks. Any advise apreciated.

460 D utility. fresh overhaul (I did it) oil pressure good.

rocker arms arent oiling. Head gasket is on right to make sure the two little holes arent blocked. Still no oil to the lifters.

problem #2: it is a beast to start. got fuel leaking around #2 injector where it screws into head insert after running for 5 mins or so, takes ether to start. Runs good other than that after I get it started. Am using a 560 D Farmall pump. Only 1 timing mark on the crank, not the 3 shown in the book.

Any help appreciated!!

Thanks,
David

Thank you, folks. Rocker arm holders were wrong, my fault. Going to change them tomorrow. Do they go between 1 and 2 and 5 and 6? I checked the shop manual but it didnt mention it. Cam is right (or it should be, I didnt pull it. Just did an in frame, sleeve and piston replacement plus front main seal and a head rebuild.

Found some other goodies too. #3 cylinder still clean and pretty, oops. Injector must be bad. Head gasket blowing on 5 (grumbles).

Thanks again!!!
David

When the machine shop put my 282 diesel back together they did not get the two cam bearings with holes turned the right way to allow the oil to come up the galleys. There is also two special rocker arm supports that allows the oil to continue up and into the assembly. My terminology may not be correct here but we ended up having to run a quarter line teed off the oil pressure port up into the rocker arm assembly through the valve cover. All I know is that it was either that or take the whole thing back apart again (not a choice) you gotta get oil up there somehow. Mine works fine and is used for a puller turbocharged. It does not start easy either. I recently put a new set of injectors in my other 282 and have trouble with two of them leaking also. I plan to pull them and send them back for replacement. I know I put the copper gasket rings in against the cups. Hope this helps. Migraine

kyhayman, Possibly cam bearing not installed correctly, or slotted rocker stand in wrong place or hollow rocker bolt in wrong place . Can't
remember if it has slotted stand or hollow bolt.

You might try setting the time slightly later to make it start better, not much, about the width
of the line in the pump.

It's been a while but I think there is a copper washer
for a seal where the inj seats in the holder. I have a head like that apart now but the inj and precups
were out when it got here for valve and seat grind.
