You are right about the D236 engine in the 460 diesel. Hal

That's the same engine that's used in the 560D.
The 282cid engine. They tell me the torque for the head is 115 ft-lbs. The head may need retorqing after you get the engine running when it's hot. Hal

Thanks , El Toro. I did some investigating and 115ft.lbs. is correct. Any idea on the torque of the rocker arm assembly? I got a wounded duck! Trying to see if she will live w/least money. If she is worth restoring!

Call 1-800-732-0017 on Monday and ask for farm equipment service and they will look that up for you in their service manual. If you have any problems post back to me and I'll try and get that for you. Hal

You need to use a criss-crossing pattern for tightening the head. Start in the center and
tighten in both directions. Run them with a ratchet until snug and then use your torque wrench
raising the torque 10 to 15 ft-lbs each time.

My manual doesn't cover your tractor, but those older Farmall diesels had a recommended torque of 160 ft-lbs.

Call your local IH dealer for the correct torque if no one else posts it for your tractor.

If you have problem getting it call 1-800-732-0017
and ask for for farm equipment service. If you can not get through post back and I'll call them on Saturday. Hal
