I highly doubt that in an M the removal of a thermostat will cause overheating, much less causing it to foam. Anyway, I’m guessing that you had the radiator cleaned because of overheating? If so the other posts about an internally blown head gasket are likely pointing to your problem.

I doubt a crack as I would think that a crack would put a few bubbles in the radiator, not enough to cause foaming unless it was a pretty severe crack.

do you have shutters and are they closed??

if you do not have a therm and it boils over you probably have too much water and not enough coolant( 50-50 mix) OR
they did not cook it.

It would not be the fault of the thermostat, and I seriously doubt you have radiator problems either. If the coolant is foaming you have either a leaky head gasket, cracked head, or both.

The coolant is foaming but i can't see any leaking on the outside of the head gasket, also it holds good oil pressure and i,ve never noticed any coolant in the oil.

The leak is internal, most likely will not be visible from the outside, and may or may not leak anti-freeze into the oil. A bad gasket or cracked head will not effect the oil pressure. I don't for sure that is the problem, but it sure sounds like it to me.

A good way to find out is to start the tractor up cold and if it immediatly starts foaming then you have a leak/crack for sure. But this method does not rule out the fact that there is no crack because once it heats up it might expand enough to open that crack. It's worth a shot at least.

I'd think it would tend to run cool without the thermostat. Before I put a thermostat in my "H", it wouldn't get up to operating temperature with the light use I gave it. Others may have better ideas.
