I got a 48 Cub I use to mow with and have a problem that I could use some help with.
The throttle level just froze up, was working fine and I backed the lever off and noticed it seemed a little stiff then when I opened it back up it has stuck and will not move at all !
As luck would have it, It is stuck wide open so I could finish mowing with it but now want to find out whats going on !
I've never owned a Farmall before so I know little about them so any help would be great befor I go tearing into it!
Any Ideas where I should start?
Dose this lever rod run to the governor?
The governor seem's to be working as the load vary's on the motor? Any help would be great ! The grass is growing so I need to get her going!

The front end of the rod connects to an L-shaped lever. The other end pulls the governor spring. This part pivots on a small shaft that typically gets no lubrication. The L-shaped part is probably binding on the shaft. It will be much easier to work on if you remove the hood/tank. You may be able to get it working without removing it by using some penetrating oil.

Thanks Jim I'll take a look at that.
Well if I'm going to pull the tank and hood sounds like a good time to fix a couple of dents and start the paint job!
Thanks again
Bob

By the way, the first Cub Lo-Boys were produced in 1955. Farmall Cubs were built from 1947.

After you said low boys were not built untill 1955 I rechecked the serial # and you are absolutly right Jim!
The serial # is 18421J and that put's it in 55! Thanks for setting me stright! It's nice to find out it's a little newer than I thought!
I posted the serial # sometime back to a fellow on here and he came back and told me it was a 48 model. Guess he was wrong! thats what I get for not checking myself huh?
Thanks again!
Was looking around for the serial numbers and ran across a show ad in Ohio that is called "Cub-Fest 05" and they are holding repair workshops and a all Cub tractor pull! sounds like it could be fun! And the best part is there only about 80 miles from my home.
Just thought I pass that on in case you may be interested Bob

Cubfest should be a great time. Unfortunately it is a little far, considering what else I have going on this summer.
